24th December, 2015

Merry Christmas to all - have a safe and joyous time and a happy new year.

Merry Christmas from Tales of Hoffmann 2015!

Don't forget to come and see Les Contes d'Hoffmann [Tales of Hoffmann] tomorrow, Christmas Day, at 7pm!

P.S. Listen to The Twelve Days of (Australian) Christmas on YouTube. Next performance on 2nd January, 2016!

28th November, 2015

So, finally, here is my very belated "welcome back" post for the 2015/16 opera season.

Tonight is the premiere of Les Contes d'Hoffmann, where I play the character roles of Cochenille, Frantz and Pitichinaccio. It promises to be a very colorful production and I look forward to playing it.

I have so far been involved in the revival of Macbeth.

In December I will also be involved in the Santa Chor is Coming concert series, singing an Australian christmas carol alongside the Theater Augsburg opera chorus and fellow soloists from the ensemble singing christmas songs from their homelands.

Not to forget the 16. Augsburger Opera Ball and Mozart's Requiem with the Augsburger Philharmoniker in January, with much more to come later next year.

10th July, 2015

Tonight is my 8th performance on the Freilichtbühne am Roten Tor as Curt in Blues Brothers, which is on the way to breaking Theater Augsburg's box office record. The last show to do this was Hair, which featured the same production team and which I was also lucky enough to be involved!

In other news, this Sunday I will be singing at the celebration of 150 years of Augsburg Philharmonic with the Augsburger Philharmoniker & Choir at Kongresshalle am Park, Augsburg. It’s an open day, with lots of events happening all day, but the ones I am involved in are:

  • 11am: Open Dress rehearsal (free entry!)
  • 6pm: Concert at 6pm
  • From 9pm: singing my original music with Blue Macaw and the Folk Orchestra at 9pm in the foyer (free entry!)

Details on the performances page. Hope to see you all there!

27th June 2015

Tonight, 8:30pm on the Freilichtbühne am Roten Tor (Red Gate Park!) is the premiere of Theater Augsburg's Blues Brothers. I play the role of Curt, owner of the Red Gate Amusement Park, based originally on the character of Bob from Bob's Country Bunker in the original film. Hope to see you all there, clapping and singing along to all the numbers! Don't miss it!

13th June 2015

Today is open day for Blues Brothers @ Theater Augsburg running from 12pm until just after 6pm with live bands playing into the night. If you want to hear me sing Johnny Cash’s "Ring of Fire" come to the "Best of Blues Brothers Concert" at 12:45 and 4pm.

If you want to see me dance... no I'm not going to advertise when...

Information about the day can be found this pdf.

In other news, I played my last Belfiore in Mozart’s La Finta Giardiniera. Tomorrow is my last performance as Malcolm in Macbeth and officially ends the opera season for me. However, I will be very busy in the musical, Blues Brothers, based on the hit-film which opens on the 27th June. Details on my performances page and on the Theater Augsburg website.

30th May 2015

Tonight I perform my first Malcolm in Verdi's version of the Shakespeare's greatest tragedy, Macb*th. I have written another article, Macb*th, in which I discuss my character, superstitions and the relationship between the play and the opera.

Come along to see the premiere of Macb*th tonight, 7:30pm at Theater Augsburg!

18th April 2015

Tonight I make my debut as Belfiore in Mozart's La Finta Giardiniera at Theater Augsburg. To celebrate what is perhaps my biggest European debut so far, I have written an article about the opera and the character entitled The Pretend Gardener.

Banner for La Finta Giardiniera.

Next week I begin rehearsals for Verdi's Macbeth, directed by Lorenzo Fioroni, who also directed the productions of Carmen and Elektra in recent years. There are other concerts planned, which I will post in the coming weeks when they are finalized.
